Teaching Reading and Writing to English Language Learners

Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., July 7, 14 & 21
Overview:
Introduces factors affecting the literacy development of English Language Learners. Participants develop skills assessing and teaching early and later literacy skills, developing vocabulary, facilitating comprehension, planning and implementing reading and writing lessons, and adapting instruction for children of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds at a range of ages and English proficiency levels.
Prerequisite:
EDU 327/337, RDG 537 or one course in Language and Literacy.

Course Credit and Tuition: $775 to take the course for one (1) graduate credit or $395 to take the course for non-credit/professional development points (PDPs)
