Supporting Children's Emotional Development in Schools and Communities

June 21-23, Thursday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Overview:
This three-day institute has been developed in response to concerns voiced by many teachers and other human service professionals and reports by the Surgeon General, the American Psychological Association and other organizations indicating that 20 to 25 percent of children in U.S. schools suffer from emotional problems, but frequently do not receive any professional help. This institute has been designed to support teachers, parents and counselors in their efforts to strengthen children's emotional development in schools and communities.

Faculty:
Christine Morton, B.S. '73, M.S.

Christine Morton (BS 1973) worked as an elementary school teacher in Newburyport for 25 years before seeking certification as a yoga teacher. Chris left the school system several years ago, and now works as a yoga teacher and yoga teacher trainer. She also teaches courses at Wheelock on stress reduction and mindfulness techniques for adults and children.

Course Credit and Tuition: $1,510 to take the course for three (2) graduate credits or $490 to take the course for non-credit/professional development points (PDPs)
