Field Guide to a School Yard: Teaching Plant and Animal I.D. to Children

Overview:
Participants will learn to identify the common plants and animals of New England. Focus will be on field identification techniques, classification and how to teach this information to children. Participants will learn to identify 20+ common trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants found in school yards in New England and expand their knowledge of classification of animals and plants; and will leave with new ideas on how to incorporate the study of plants and animals into existing curricula, with hands-on techniques appropriate for children in pre-k through middle school.

Course Credit and Tuition: $775 to take the course for one (1) graduate credit or $395 to take the course for non-credit/professional development points (PDPs)
