Overview:
This course provides students with an introduction to psychopathology and clinical work with children and adolescents in various settings. The course includes DSM-IV-TR assessment and differential diagnosis, issues of culture and diversity in regard to assessment, theories of developmental psychopathology, and implications for treatment of major disorders. Theoretical constructs from developmental, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and trauma perspectives are introduced to allow the student to generate hypotheses about clinical manifestations of disorders and treatment options.
