Mission
To advance knowledge and solutions in response to social and educational challenges.
To fulfill this mission, Aspire collaborates with Wheelock faculty and staff, and community partners to envision and develop new, effective policy and practice in the fields of education, child and human development, and health and wellness.
Core Values
Connection: Engage and strengthen communities
Innovation: Explore and expand what is possible
Optimism: Act with energy and hope for the future
Issue Areas
Education: We promote competent, inclusive, and caring practitioners who are grounded in scholarship, leadership, and professional practice.
Child and Human Development: We promote greater understanding among families and practitioners of the biological, social, emotional, environmental and cultural-linguistic factors that shape human development across the lifespan.
Health and Wellness: We promote a comprehensive approach to health and wellness that includes a focus on both personal health and the physical and social health of the community.
Across these areas, Aspire develops and implements initiatives that promote professional skill development, reflective practice, lifelong learning, and cross-discipline collaboration.
Activities
Through strategic collaboration we:
Develop new, evidence-based and sustainable program models
Craft strategic plans and policy reports for decision-makers
Convene community partners and experts to problem-solve
Assess what works at Wheelock and beyond to improve social and education outcomes
