- Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)
- The Classroom Assessment Scoring System is researched based observation tool used to help teachers and schools improve the effectiveness of classroom interactions.
- Environmental Rating Scale (ERS)
- These are reliable and valid scales designed to assess process quality in an early childhood or school age care group. Process quality is assessed primarily through observation and has been found to be more predictive of child outcomes than structural indicators such as staff to child ratio, group size, cost of care, and even type of care, for example child care center or family child care home.

- Program Administration Scale (PAS)
- Assesses quality in ten areas: human resources development, personnel cost and allocation, center operations, child assessment, fiscal management, program planning and evaluation, family partnerships, marketing and public relations, technology, and staff qualifications. It is designed for early childhood program administrators, researchers, monitoring personnel, and quality enhancement facilitators, the PAS was constructed to complement the widely used environment rating scale.
- Business Administration Scale (BAS)
- Measures the quality of provider-child interactions and the quality of the learning environment, there does not currently exist a valid and reliable instrument that measures the business practices in family child care settings. The BAS includes 37 indicator strands clustered in ten items. The instrument was constructed to complement the widely used Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale-Revised (FCCERS-R).
