Registration
To initiate services, students must provide the office with documentation of a disability. Disability Services Documentation Guidelines in pdf provides information on acceptable documentation. Ideally, new students will meet with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) and submit documentation six weeks prior to the start of the semester in which services are being requested.
After submitting documentation, students should set up an initial interview with the Coordinator of Disability Services. At this time, students should fill out and sign the "Disclosure and Request for Services" form. This interview will allow the student to become familiar with the Disability Services office and will provide an opportunity to discuss individual needs and accommodations. Reasonable accommodations will usually be determined at this time.
Semester updates
Students should meet with ODS staff at the beginning of each semester in which services are requested to receive accommodations . Students are encouraged to meet with instructors to discuss individual needs in specific courses. Please note that accommodation letters do not carry over from one semester to the next. Students must request letters each semester to continue to receive accommodations.
Ongoing support
The Coordinator of Disability Services and others in the Division of Student Success are available for regular meetings throughout the semester to address individual needs. Students can schedule appointments with academic support specialist, advisors, and staff from ODS by using MyCompass. Log in into the MyWheelock portal, and find the MyCompass tab. Here, you can search through "consultants" to choose the staff with whom you wish to meet.
