Learning to Make a Difference
Since our founding 125 years ago, Wheelock has offered our students a superb, cutting-edge education that prepares them to be successful and to make a positive difference in the world.
Innovative Academic Programs
Wheelock delivers a broad array of undergraduate and graduate programs, providing students with a strong foundation in the arts and sciences and outstanding professional preparation in the fields of education, child life, and social work.
We continue to invest in new, innovative programs. We offer an accelerated masters program in Child Life designed to enhance academic credentials and earning potential for graduates who will work with children and families in medical settings. At the graduate level, we offer a variety of Certificate Programs designed to give students specific skills that can improve their effectiveness and advance their career. Our undergraduate minors, such as Understanding Autism, pair with our majors to provide our students with a wider range of job opportunities and career paths.
Dedicated and Effective Faculty
Wheelock's Academic Departments include American Studies, Arts, Child Life & Family Studies, Communications & Media Literacy, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Humanities, Juvenile Justice & Youth Advocacy, Language & Literacy, Mathematics & Science, Organizational Leadership & Policy, Political Science & Global Studies, Psychology & Human Development, Social Work, and Special Education.
Faculty members in each of these departments are distinguished leaders in their fields of expertise, recognized as both successful scholars and gifted teachers. Wheelock professors want you to be able to take your learning and apply it right away to make the world a better place. They will guide you and offer you a range of opportunities, including service learning around the globe, leadership development, and undergraduate and graduate research projects.
Real-World Work Experiences
A hallmark of a Wheelock education is our ability to provide students with real-world experiences for many of the semesters they are here. This integration of classroom theory and scholarship with real-world experience enables our students to graduate with a strong degree and a strong resume, making them highly regarded and sought after in the job market. This accounts for why so many of our students are offered good paying jobs even before graduation.
We know that you are likely to have several careers, not just jobs, during your working years. A Wheelock education will provide you with the skills, confidence, and experience to succeed in a fast-changing, highly-competitive world.
A Focus on Your Success
Wheelock is one of a small number of higher education institutions in the country that has created a multi-department Student Success team focused on providing a wide range of Academic Support Services tailored to your specific academic and learning needs.
These are just some of the ways we are committed to helping you be successful—during college and beyond. We invite you to explore the undergraduate and graduate programs we offer in our Boston and Brookline campuses, as well as those we provide at our off-campus locations, and internationally.
