Barbara Morgan, Dean of Students
Dean of Students
As Dean of Students, Barbara Morgan brings strong attention, resources, and support to residence life, athletics, counseling services, and campus leadership programs. Dean Morgan identifies student advocacy as a chief priority in her work. She has expanded support and resources for a fully representative student government, endorsement of campus clubs and professional affiliations, and enhanced campus community. She has participated in and chaired various committees in higher education, including Educational Policy, Student Affairs Committee, Judicial Committee, and the Student Appeals Committee.
Prior to joining Wheelock, Dean Morgan served for ten years as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Boston Architectural College where she supervised a number of offices including student life, registrar, enrollment, and international student services. She has also served as a School Dean and faculty member at Northfield Mount Hermon School, a secondary preparatory boarding school in Western Massachusetts. Previous positions include Associate Dean of Students at Newbury College and Assistant Dean/Director of Residence Life at Mount Ida College.
Dean Morgan is active in many higher educational professional associations including Massachusetts College Personnel Association, National Association of Student Affairs Administrators (Board Member 2004-2007), and National Association of Foreign Student Advisors. She was the 2007 recipient of the Mary Tobin Award, presented by the Massachusetts Association of Women in Education for providing leadership to women in higher education. She also served on the Board for the American Council on Education.
She holds a B.S. in Psychology and Literature from Roger Williams University and a Master of Educational Administration from Suffolk University.
