Office of Government & External Affairs, and Strategic Partnerships

The Office of Strategic Partnerships forges external relationships that advance knowledge, practice and mission while addressing community priorities. The Office fulfills this responsibility by focusing on its mission, and goals.

Wheelock values partnerships and collaborations that positively impact the lives of children and families.

Pre-Collegiate Outreach
We believe that by creating a pipeline of early exposure, a strong college pathway can be laid to support the necessary awareness, inquiry and reflection needed to successfully prepare college-ready youth. We do this in two ways through our Early College Access Program: Track 1 - Exposing elementary to high school aged youth to our campus; Track 2 - Offering a school-year long, on-campus early college curriculum to high school students.

  • Track 1 - Campus Tours and Student Discussion
Students have the opportunity to tour Wheelock's campus with one of Wheelock's Early College Associates (ECA). Our ECAs will tour where students like to eat, sleep and study. After the tour, the ECAs will participate in a discussion with students sharing their college preparation experiences and what they have learned since being on-campus.
The Campus Tour and Student Discussion is 2-hours long and offered in May and June to students in grades 4th-12th.
  • Track 2 - Early College Learning Experience
Students participate in an in-depth pre-collegiate learning experience designed to teach them about college access, financial literacy, study and time-management skills, being their own advocate and more! This three part series culminates in an on-campus celebration for students, their teachers and families.
The Early College Learning Experience sessions are about 2 hours long and offered October through April to students in grades 8th-10th.
