(Please note: All events except the Special Convocation Ceremony are by prior invitation only. The Convocation is open to the public.)

September - October: Wheelock hosted a series of pre-Symposium design meetings with key Wheelock faculty members, classroom teachers, and principals to create a three-week curriculum tied to Hill Harper's best-selling books, Letters to Young Brother" and "Letters to a Young Sister." The completed curriculum was sent out to schools for students to complete before attending the Symposium. Representatives from Wheelock faculty and members of the student group SPARK the Truth met to design the content for the Symposium and the "Talk Back" luncheon.

October 24:
6 p.m.
Pre-Convocation dinner honoring Professor Charles Ogletree, with remarks by Schott Foundation for Public Education President and CEO John H. Jackson, Harvard University Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Harvard Business School Professor Rosabeth Moss Kanter, and Ten-Point Coalition Co-Founder The Reverend Eugene F. Rivers III. With special guest author Hill Harper.

October 25:
9:30 a.m. - noon
Youth Symposium, featuring dialogue between the generations driven by author Hill Harper and Professor Charles Ogletree. Moderated by Latoya Edwards of NECN. Special remarks by Gov. Deval Patrick and Mayor Tom Menino.

noon - 2 p.m.
Youth Symposium "Talk Back" Luncheon, driven by representatives from SPARK the Truth and Wheelock faculty. Moderated by Latoya Edwards of NECN.

noon - 2 p.m.
Adult Symposium Luncheon, driven by Boston's funder and youth service provider community and featuring dialogue facilitated by Professor Charles Ogletree.

3 - 4:30 p.m.
Special Public Event
Lucy Wheelock Auditorium, 180 The Riverway, Boston
Special Convocation and Honorary Degree Ceremony honoring Professor Charles Ogletree, featuring remarks by U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer, Northeastern University Professor of Law Margaret A. Burnham, and William Rodriguez, Wheelock College Chair and Assistant Professor, Juvenile Justice & Youth Advocacy Program. A reception will follow in the Campus Center.
