Student Learning Outcomes Assessment
Wheelock College has developed this process to guide us in our program assessment of student learning outcomes assessment.
The Program Assessment Feedback Loop
Sample Outcome Analysis 2003-2004, 2004-2005, and 2005-2006
Wheelock College’s assessment process started with the Division Mission, which then connected to the BSW and MSW Program Goals, then Program Objectives, and finally into individual Course Objectives. The following flowcharts represent this connection, as well as present the outcome data. The results for some of the courses during this three year period:
- SWK 345: Human Behavior & the Social Environment (BSW program)
- SWK 520: Social Welfare Policy (Foundation MSW program)
- SWK 640: Social Work Practice with Children & Families I (Concentration MSW program)
Council on Social Work Accreditation (CSWE) Program Assessment Statement
Wheelock College - Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) Programs
The BSW and MSW programs at Wheelock College are actively engaged in preparations for our upcoming fall 2014 Reaffirmation visit by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), working collaboratively with our field partners and students. The programs were last Reaffirmed jointly in 2006 under the 2001 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS). The new 2008 EPAS significantly shifts the evaluative and assessment processes for the Social Work Programs to be based upon 10 Core Competencies for both programs, 41 Practice Behaviors (BSW and Foundation MSW), and 10 Advanced Practice Behaviors created by our Social Work program (Concentration MSW). The programs have been infusing the new Core Competency and Practice-Behavior based standards within our program curriculum in an increasingly comprehensive and integrated manner over the last several years.

Approved Program Goals for MSW and BSW Programs
After reviewing our curriculum over the last 2 years, the aligned Program Goals were approved in March, 2013:
Measurement of Student Learning Outcomes
A measurement protocol has been designed and is being implemented over the 2012-2013 academic year, to measure the BSW and Foundation Core Competencies and Practice Behaviors, and our Concentration/Advanced Practice Behaviors in relation to the Core Competencies. The protocol is illustrated in the following document:
