FERPA Violations
To avoid FERPA violations DO NOT:
- leave graded tests or papers in a stack for students to pick up by sorting
through the tests or papers of all students;
- use the Social Security Number of a student to post grades or link the
name of a student with that student's Social Security Number in any public
manner;
- circulate a printed class list with student names and Social Security
Numbers as an attendance roster;
- discuss the progress of any student with anyone other than the student
(including the student's parents) without the prior consent of the student
or without verifying with the Office of Academic Records and Registration that the student has
granted access to the third party;
- provide anyone outside the College with lists of students enrolled in
your classes;
- provide anyone with student schedules or assist anyone other than College
employees in finding a student on campus.
